„Do good deeds and take care of them personally" - that has been the guiding principle of WÖRWAG Pharma from Böblingen for many years when it comes to Tanzania, Africa. Fritz Wörwag, the pharmacist and founder of the mid-sized family owned company, personally gets involved there. The objective there is to help the poorest of the poor on the principle of “helping others to help themselves” so they may have a better lease on life.
Fact is that the here applied resources yield astonishing results. Formation and Education, clean drinking water as well as AIDS and malaria prevention are on top of the priority list. There is the Mbozi-Hospital, for example, situated in a very underdeveloped part of Southern Tanzania, which is kept running according to updated medical standards with the help of donations. And the Isoko-Hospital, situated in an underdeveloped area with bad traffic infrastructure, which is responsible for the basic and emergency medical care of 120.000 people, was recently equipped with a reliable electric power supply.
Also from the birthday fund of Dr. Fritz Wörwag, who turned the proud age of 70 in 2009, a rice mile was built in Tenende, which spares the women there now from long walks.
